About Us
Our Journey
Merrill Farms is a small family-run farm owned by Lee and Liz Merrill. Lee and Liz both come from farm families and are both at least the 5th generation in their families to be involved with farming. We raise Beef Cattle, corn (mostly to feed the cattle), soybeans, wheat, hay and Sweet Corn. The farm that we operate was started by Lee’s parents, originally named Merr-stead Farms, where they raised dairy cattle, milked cows, and raised row crops.
Growing up on a working dairy farm Lee developed a love of agriculture and cattle. He only wanted to be on the farm with his Dad instead of school and knew from a young age that he wanted to continue the family farm. He always had a favorite calf to work with from their award-winning dairy herd. He continued to develop his love for agriculture through FFA in high school. Liz got her start in 4-H showing calves at the fair from her family dairy farm, Rowland Farms, then found her love of beef cattle when she transitioned to raising market steers and finally got her first Shorthorn heifer her last year in 4-H, and the herd has grown since. Now we are raising freezer beef and registered shorthorn seed stock. We are passionate about agriculture and most especially about raising quality cattle and premium beef. Farming is not just a job for us, it is our livelihood and most importantly our passion and we feel blessed to be able to do this every day.
